One big issue I see hold scaled companies back from doing great #prodmgmt is the lack of team work in middle management and exec layers. /1

What is the difference between TPMs (Technical Program Managers), PMs (Project Managers) and POs (Product Owners)? A lot. Be careful about what type of software engineering organization you are building.

Just saw the term “PMaaS” aka “Product Management as a service” and I am immediately thinking about building this as a subscription service with different pricing tiers. Anyone interested to become a co-founder?

80% product managers solve problems that don't exist This is an expensive mistake By doing this, they invest resources in a solution no one wants How to fix: spend 80% time on discovery / problem validation and 20% on creating /shipping solutions Reply with Waving hand to know more

Is this considered mind-blowing because it’s Facebook? I’ve never written a PRD in my entire career (10 years) at all kinds of companies…

1/ If you’re a PM, this will blow your mind: Within weeks of joining Facebook (Meta) back in 2019, there was a Q&A session between a PM who had been at FB for 4 years and all of us incoming PMs.

There’s no reason why PM principles can’t be applied in your own personal life: Vision: where do you want to be long-term? Strategy: broadly what will you prioritise? Objectives: what will you focus on now? Key results: how will you know you’re on track? #prodmgmt

I don't know why anyone is surprised that Product, Engineering & Design people have different decision making patterns, & need lots of discussions to be in alignment. Broadly speaking, to be highly skilled at one of those requires you to have a different mindset than the other.

Trump says Putin's military move on Ukraine is "genius." "Putin is now saying, 'It’s independent,' a large section of Ukraine. I said, 'How smart is that?' And he’s gonna go in and be a peacekeeper... We could use that on our southern border." "Here’s a guy who’s very savvy."

fishing for right synonym for a #prodmgmt talk… "Product managers should be deeply *skeptical* of user-presented solutions.” But *skeptical* has negative connotations. Upbeat positive word for 'we’ll inspect deeply and not nec believe what you tell us’?

Realizing that you have to choose daily where to put your focus is hard. Shipping the perfect product is an illusion; compromises cannot be avoided.
